Film Noir

It's hard to understand what exactly film noir is. It's a difficult genre, because it doesn't seem to hang together or point to one thing. Film noir usually consists of a detective and a crime their trying to solve. A big thing in this type of films is Venetian blinds. Such as in Double Indemnity, when Walter Neff goes to see Mr. Dietrichson to talk to him about his insurance, but finds his wife, Phyllis instead. In that scene you see the Venetian blinds in the background.

Double Indemnity ends with Walter shooting Phyllis and he ends up dying in Mr. Keyes' arms. The ending of this film was negative, but the others are way worse. I liked Memento alot, because it was filmed in a really strange way, but it was really interesting. Kiss Me Deadly is the most negative, because the world ends.

Romantic/Screwball Comedy

I thought this genre was pretty funny and i usually end up seeing these kind of movies if I am with a girl. This is the first time I ever saw Groundhog's Day all the way through. Before whenever I would see it in tv, I would always change the channel, but when I saw the whole thing, I thought that the movie was great. I think that Ned, which was played by Stephen Tobolowsky, was really funny, because everytime that it would replay that scene and you heard him say, "Phil?" It just made me laugh everytime.
