Saving Private Ryan

The first film that our group watched was Saving Private Ryan. It was directed by Steven Spielberg. It was a great movie because the story and the actors do a great job. I like the genre of historical war movies, and especially the ones about World War II, and the Normandy landing. World War II is going on in this film, and they are trying to find Private Ryan because he had three brothers who have been killed in action, and he will be sent home to keep him safe. Then it won't be so hard on the mom, so that she won't lose all of her sons.

They find another Private Ryan at first, and they tell him that his brothers have died. It is a mistake, though, and I liked this part of the story when they have to tell him that he was the wrong Private Ryan.

This film was very graphic, especially when someone was shot or blown up. When someone was injured, the medic would comeover to them and try to get the bullet out or sew them up. For example, private Adrian Caparzo, which was played by Vin Desel, was shot by a german sniper, and bleed to death in the street while Jackson (Barry Pepper) was trying to take out the sniper. A lot of people thought that this movie was too graphic, but a disagree. I think the gore, language, and violence are perfectly exceptable for a movie based on WWII.
