Heavenly Date: Chapter 5

This chapter tells a story about a young girl named Alice, who was raised in Australia by her father. Her mother died when she was only twelve years old. Alice's teacher wants her togo to an art school for college, which was in Paris, France, but her father had other plans for her.

Her father needed some help on the farm, so he had the youngest Page boy; John to come over to help restore the harvester, and all of the tractors. Within a couple of weeks they were all working as good as new.

One day her father asked John if he would like to have lunch with them on Sunday, so he came over, and instead of wearing his work clothes, he was dressed up, and looked very clean. After their meal John asked Alice, "Would you like to go to a dance? There's one at the hall on Saturday" (143). She said yes, and they went to the dance together. After the dance, John spent the nightt at Alices house. In the morning, John went into te kitchen to her father, and told him that he is going to marry Alice. The following Saturday, they went to go see a movie, and John proposed to her.
